Last year’s FleetDive holiday winner says…

The lucky winner of the holiday from Fleet Dive, at Scuba Santas 2013, was Rob from Scubaducks. He was absolutely delighted with his prize and reports:

“In June this year my buddy Nathan and I flew out to Catalonia to see what FleetDive and the Spanish coast had to offer. To put it simply, it was amazing! On arrival we were picked up and whisked to our accommodation for the week, a house situated on the canals leading out into the Bay of Roses. Spacious bedrooms, a kitchen to cook the bacon sarnies in and a veranda to sit and drink a few post-dive beers, not to mention the boat being moored right on your doorstep!  The diving was fantastic, a true hidden gem, lots of different dive sites for all experience levels within easy reach. From the reserves of the Medes Islands and their abundance of marine life to the wrecks, walls and caves there is enough to satisfy any divers appetite. I could go on about how fantastic FleetDive and the diving is, but why not find out for yourself?”

If you want a chance to win this fantastic holiday offered as the first prize of the Scuba Santas 2014 prize draw, you can get your tickets on the day, or contact Scuba Santas Little Helpers (Kathryn & Louise at DDRC Healthcare!) on 01752 237142 or email info@scuba-santas.co.uk  Tickets are £1 each, or £5 for a strip. All money raised is split 50/50 between the RNLI and DDRC Healthcare.

Good luck everyone and a huge thank you to the lovely people at FleetDive!

3 Good reasons to make a donation to Scuba Santas 2014

Scuba Santas is aiming to raise at least £2000 from the 2014 event, with the generous support of the diving community. All money raised will be collected by DDRC Healthcare (who used to be the Diving Diseases Research Centre) and split 50/50 between them and the RNLI.

You may not realise, but DDRC Healthcare took over the National Diving Accident Helpline from the Royal Navy at the beginning of 2013, and their doctors provide support and advice to callers in need of assistance across the country. DDRC Healthcare is a registered charity and they will liaise with the nearest hyperbaric chamber to a diver, if they need to be seen by a Diving Doctor or be treated at a hyperbaric recompression chamber facility.

Both of these charities do fantastic work, on call 24/7 to help divers whenever they might need it. That includes all through the Christmas and New Year period too of course.

There are lots of ways to donate to Scuba Santas 2014 but one of the simplest is to make a group or individual donation via https://www.justgiving.com/scubasantas2014/

3 good reasons to make a donation: (1) You are taking part in Scuba Santas (2) You are sponsoring someone else to take part in Scuba Santas (3) You are unable (or quite frankly unwilling) to take part in Scuba Santas yourself !

Kent Tooling Diving Products Vouchers to be won

Long time Scuba Santas supporters Kent Tooling Diving Products have once again offered 3 fantastic prizes of £50 vouchers for our fundraising raffle this year. Yes, 3 chances to win a £50 voucher!

They have a huge range of engineered diving products and quality diving supplies available, so spending those winning vouchers should not be a problem… other than the difficulty in choosing from their extensive range.

We’ll put in a good word to make sure Kent Tooling Diving Products are now on Santas ‘Good Boys & Girls’ list! A big thank you to John and all the team for their generous support.

Registration is open for Scuba Santas 2014

Registration has now opened for the 2014 Scuba Santas event at the National Diving & Activity Centre (NDAC) near Chepstow. With 80 days still to go, a few enthusiastic Scuba Santas devotees have already been online and got themselves registered, within hours of registration opening!

We’re planning another great event, with the emphasis on some festive fun amongst scuba divers and a drive to raise over £2000 for 2 great charities (the RNLI and DDRC Healthcare) which do a lot to support the diving community.

It would be fantastic if we could get 200 Scuba Santas this year, so we could attempt the world record for scuba divers dressed as Santa, so please tell your buddies, dive clubs, friends and family to come along and join us. Registration is open at http://d2587961.u189.pipeten.co.uk/register-for-scuba-santas/

100 days until Scuba Santas 2014.

Well it’s still quite warm outside but Strictly Come Dancing is about to get going again, so the nights must be drawing in and Christmas must (inevitably!) be getting a little closer.

It’s 100 days until the 2014 Scuba Santas event, which will be bigger and better than ever before!

Scuba Santa’s Little Helpers are swinging into action to start making preparations . Our hosts this year will once again be the National Diving & Activity Centre (NDAC) near Chepstow.

All you need to do is pop the date of Sunday 14th December in your diaries, spread the word to other like-minded divers and await further details.

Enjoy your diving!

A fine specimen of a 2013 vintage Scuba Santa!

THANK YOU for a successful 2013 Scuba Santas!

On Sunday 15th December 2013 we were thrilled to have 90 scuba diving Santas join us at the National Diving Accident Centre for another festive, fun, Scuba Santas event.

It may not have been our year for breaking records, but the conditions were good – above and below the surface – and our 90 jolly Scuba Santas all looked magnificent and had a lot of fun. Do have a look at our Facebook page for lots of great pictures from the day, which are sure to make you smile and feel festive!

Of course as well as having lots of festive fun, we were also fundraising for 2 great charities which support the diving community: the RNLI and DDRC Healthcare. We were joined by the RNLI mascot Stormy Stan and his helpers from the RNLI Chepstow Branch and ‘Scuba Santas Little Helpers’ from DDRC Healthcare.

So far we have raised nearly £1400 from sponsorship, raffle ticket sales and donations, with more still coming in at  http://www.justgiving.com/scubasantas2013  THANK YOU for all your support – donations are still welcome!

We have lots of people to thank, but most especially:

Everyone who came, donned a Santa suit and went for a Scuba Santa dive.

Everyone who came to cheer on and support the Scuba Santas.

The National Diving & Activity Centre (NDAC), who were again fantastic hosts, provided the mince pies & hot chocolate, and are donating 50% of the entrance fees to our fundraising total.

All our very generous sponsors who kindly donated an amazing number of fantastic prizes – have a look at what you could have won!

We hope to see even more Scuba Santas joining us in 2014. Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year everyone!!!!
