Rules for World Record Attempt


GUIDELINES FOR LARGEST GATHERING OF UNDERWATER SANTAS

In order to make a world record attempt the following rules/guidelines must be followed:

  1. All participants must be wearing real Santa costumes (red with white fur trim),
    along with fake beards, matching hats, black belts, etc.
  2. All divers must be qualified and sufficiently equipped to perform the dive in question
  3. Children are welcome to participate as long as they are also in full Santa attire and are qualified to make the required dive
  4. Mrs. Santa outfits are also acceptable as long as the attire is just as elaborate
    as Mr.Santa.
  5. All participants must be underwater simultaneously and remain so for a minimum period of 10 minutes, all divers must be at a depth of greater than 3 metres at the beginning of the record attempt. Any divers returning to the surface will be discounted from the official count.
  6. Timing will commence once the last diver has achieved a depth of 3 metres or more and will terminate at 10 minutes from this time.
  7. Two timekeepers must time the attempt with stopwatches accurate to 0.01 seconds.
  8. All participants must wear the costume for the entirety of the attempt.
  9. The attempt must take place at a single location
  10. The name of the organisation, company or person(s) making the attempt must
    be given, along with the date and place.
  11. Attendance numbers must be accurately confirmed by means of registration into a logbook.
  12. The two witnesses must confirm the exact and final figure of total participants
  13. Please ensure that with scuba equipment is safe to use with santa costume worn, e.g. cut holes for dry suit vents, etc
